KAKATO FESTIVAL 2024 Successfully Held

The KAKATO FESTIVAL 2024 took place successfully from 16 to17 November 2024 at AIRSIDE, Kai Tak, Kowloon. Organised by MaxiPro (Asia) Limited, Kakato® Premium Pet Food, and the Asia Penny Farthing Association, this meaningful public carnival attracted a large number of participants.

Renowned “Music Lover” Timothy Cheng hosted the opening ceremony as the celebrity MC, announcing the winners of the 3rd Kakato Animal Furdel Awards, including “Fudel Cat,” “Furdel Dog,” and “Furkid Angel.” Adding vibrancy to the ceremony, Gavin Tao, a singer from Midlife, Sing & Shine 1, delivered a captivating live performance.

The event also featured a Dog Performance by C.C. Cheung Guard Dog Training Base, showcasing the exceptional skills of well-trained dogs. The Youth Band “Build up: LOVE” further energized the audience with their dynamic music.A highlight of the festival was the final of the “Respect Lives • Be Kind to Animals” Hong Kong Primary School Singing Contest, with special guest and award presenter Mandy Yan, an artist from Hong Kong and Taiwan. The heartfelt performances by the children conveyed their deep love for animals, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.

The festival also marked a milestone with the launch ceremony of the Asia Penny Farthing Association (APFA) and an engaging penny farthing performance. The introduction of this unique 19th-century bicycle culture was warmly received. The National Penny Farthing Champion shared his inspiring story of perseverance, embodying the spirit of “When the Going Gets Tough; The Tough Get Going.”

More than just a celebration, the KAKATO FESTIVAL seamlessly integrated social welfare, cultural creativity, and sports development. It also reflected the core philosophy of “Respect Lives • Be Kind to Animals”, advocated by event organiser Dr. April Fong, who is committed to promoting a pet-friendly and harmonious society in Hong Kong.
